Reading and writing in a language are two sides of a coin. They are so closely related to each other. Reading is a kind of input and writing is a process of output. You have to combine these related elements in an organized manner to learn Chinese language quickly. Integration of these components requires dedicated effort and daily practice. Many of the foreigners studying Chinese often overlook the close interaction between reading and writing. You have to understand the difference in sound system and syntax between Chinese and other languages. Learning of Chinese language can be divided into four phases listening, speaking, reading and writing.

1. Initially learn the commonly used words. You can slowly increase your vocabulary by learning a few words everyday.
2. Learn new words using several short sessions than studying for long periods before a test.
3. Spend your leisure time for learning new words and reading Chinese books. You can practice while riding the bus or waiting in line.
4. The only method to learn Chinese characters is by memorizing them. Learning by writing will help you to recall better.
5. Instead of writing one word several times, write one word once or twice and then go through the whole list.

The grammar of Chinese language may not be familiar to a foreigner. The sentence structure of Chinese language is entirely different from other languages like English. After each reading try to pick out grammar points like verbs, articles and prepositions. To a foreigner, learning the Chinese language will be kind of imitation. You have to follow the way in which native Chinese people use it. Spending some time with the native Chinese speakers will help you to improve your learning. China is country with vast culture.
